Our Clients Sure Love Theirs!
Tired of Shoveling Snow or paying for snow removal? Wondering if it’s a good idea to install a heated driveway? Our clients sure think so!
Heated driveways, also called “snow-melting systems,” are a technological alternative to shoveling, salting, snow plowing, snow blowing, and other snow-removal methods.
The concept is simple, keep the pavement warm enough to melt snow as it is falling or ice as it is forming reducing the risk of accidents or injury from shoveling.
There are 2 primary types of heating systems, electric coil or hydronic, both work by generating radiant heat to warm the surface and melt the snow. The electric coil heated driveways involve installing electrically heated metal rods under your pavement which can be controlled as to temperature, timing and during of heating. Secondly, hydronic heated driveways consist of PVC tubing that urns underneath your pavement. A heated water-antifreeze mixture is circulated through the tubing, warming the pavement.
Both methods offer the same benefits:
- No need for shoveling or the expense of paying someone to shovel
- Eliminate the hazards of black ice which can be hazardous
- Alleviate the use of chemicals or salt which can damage your landscape
- Eliminate winter maintenance service
Many clients tell us they underestimated what a wonderful feature this would turn out to be as the winter months approached and the snow began to fall.
